As a dramaturg I am often asked “what is your favorite play?” I respond with what I fully acknowledge is a cliché: My favorite play hasn’t been written yet. I feel passionately that the future of dramaturgy is in the field of new works and that the relationship between a playwright and a dramaturg is one of the most important in all of theatre.

My approach to new work dramaturgy is deeply rooted in a philosophy of care and curiosity. Inspired by the phrase “first do no harm,” I have embraced Liz Lerman’s Critical Response Model, which emphasizes the value of thoughtful questioning in the collaborative process. I’ve had the opportunity to work on multiple new play festivals including the At First Sight festival at Indiana University and the Microburst Festival in Provo, Utah. I look forward to again being a Co-Producer of At First Sight in 2025. My experiences in new play dramaturgy have honed my ability to harness the power of unanswered questions to foster creative growth. You can contact me for individual consultations via my contact page.
