In addition to my passion for dramaturgy, I also have a passion for theatre history and performance studies

My love for theatre was rekindled by an intro to theatre history class that convinced me to switch from studying public relations to theatre critical studies during my time as an undergraduate student. I believe that when examined, historical theatre can deeply inform our knowledge about the past.

My specific interests have varied over the years. I was initially drawn to studying Kich Noi, a Vietnamese theatre genre produced in colonial French Indochina that was overtly anti-colonial. I presented papers on this topic at both the Mid-America Theatre Conference (MATC) as well as the Western Conference of the Association of Asian Studies. My research has now shifted into studying French Acadian history and in particular how performance, such as living history museums and heritage festivals, regulate and reaffirm their sense of identity. I have presented my work on this at MATC as well as the upcoming Association for Theatre in Higher Education. Inquiries about my research can be made on my contact me page.
